Rising Lions First Responder Ministry provides faith-based support, chaplaincy, peer support, critical incident support, Bible studies, wellness resources, and encouragement for North Carolina's first responder community.
Rising Lions understands that the effects of the job do not always end when the shift ends. Critical incidents, cumulative exposure to trauma, long hours, leadership responsibilities, family pressures, grief, burnout, and moral injury can take a significant toll over the course of a first responder's career.
Rising Lions is based in the Winston-Salem area and seeks to support first responders, families, departments, chaplains, and peer-support teams across North Carolina.
First Responder Chaplaincy
Rising Lions provides confidential, faith-based chaplain support for first responders and their families. Our goal is to provide a trusted presence before, during, and after difficult circumstances. Chaplain support may include one-on-one conversations, prayer when requested, hospital or family support, critical incident response, grief support, encouragement, and connection with additional professional resources when appropriate.
Peer Support & Critical Incident Support
Sometimes the person a first responder is most willing to talk with is someone who understands the culture of public safety. Rising Lions supports peer-to-peer conversations and appropriate post-incident support following difficult calls, line-of-duty events, deaths, serious injuries, traumatic incidents, and other circumstances that affect responders and departments. Our role is support — not a replacement for licensed mental-health treatment, emergency services, or professional medical care. When needs exceed our scope, we encourage connection with appropriate professional resources.
Faith, Resilience & First Responder Wellness
Rising Lions believes spiritual wellness can be an important component of overall first responder wellness. Our programs provide opportunities for first responders to explore faith, purpose, resilience, leadership, service, relationships, stress, trauma, and the challenges of the profession in an environment designed specifically for the first responder community. Participation in faith-based activities is voluntary and should always be approached with respect for the individual.
Bible Studies for First Responders
Rising Lions develops Bible studies, devotionals, small-group materials, and Christian resources specifically for firefighters, EMS professionals, law enforcement officers, corrections personnel, dispatchers, chaplains, and first responder families. These studies connect Scripture with situations first responders actually encounter — leadership, authority, sacrifice, trauma, fear, grief, relationships, purpose, service, rest, and resilience.

Behind many first responders is a spouse or family carrying part of the burden of public safety service. Shift schedules, missed holidays, interrupted sleep, difficult calls, cumulative stress, emotional withdrawal, and the demands of the profession can affect the entire family. Rising Lions recognizes the importance of supporting both the first responder and the people who support them.
Support for North Carolina Public Safety Agencies
Rising Lions seeks to work alongside fire departments, EMS agencies, law enforcement agencies, corrections organizations, 911 communications centers, chaplains, peer-support teams, and public-safety leaders throughout North Carolina. Our goal is not to replace existing departmental resources. We seek to complement them by providing another trusted avenue of support and connecting first responders with additional resources when appropriate.
